Know, Be, Raise!

G S Swetha Rao

She is a complete circle, within her is the power to create, nurture and transform. She is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond imagination.

She is tough, ambitious and sensuous. She manages both the home and work in ease. Yet, even today her education is opposed and female feticide practiced. She is the maker, the pride of the nation, yet is considered to be a burden and dependent. Her empowerment is thus the need of the hour, a trend that forces itself to be followed. And an age where she demands to be valued and respected!

It implies the ability in her to be the decision maker and is considered equal in all spheres including personal, social, economic, political, legal and so on. Her empowerment is indeed the buzz of the day as she is increasingly getting empowered to decide the course of her life, profession and realise her fullest potential.

She professes an independent outlook, whether living inside home or working outside. With steady increase in the number of working women, she has gained financial independence, which has given her the confidence to lead and build her own identity. Standing second to none in any respect she takes care to strike a balance between her commitment to her profession as well as her home and family.

Her empowerment is again not limited to urban, even remote towns and villages are now increasingly making their voices heard loud and clear in the society. She is no longer willing to play a second fiddle to her male counterparts. Educated or not, she is asserting her social and political rights and making her presence felt, regardless of her socio-economic backgrounds.

But her empowerment, in the truest sense, will be achieved only when there is attitudinal change in society with regard to her, treating her with proper respect, dignity and equality. Her empowerment spreads to progressive as well as backward areas of our vast country. It helps make the society and the world a better place to live in.

To her it is that the world remains indebted to. Her empowerment is the nation’s empowerment.

Salute to the spirit of every her in every household.

Here’s to strong women,

Know them, Be them, Raise them!

Happy Women’s Day.
